Terms of use

Draft, pending legal review. Runzo is not publicly released. These terms describe how the software behaves today and have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
What Runzo is
Runzo is a game played by running. You record runs; the ground you cover becomes territory; territory decays and can be taken by other people. It is free to use.
Your account
One account per person. Keep your sign-in details to yourself — anything done with your account is treated as done by you. You can delete your account at any time from within the app; what that removes is set out in the
Fair play
The whole game rests on territory having been earned on foot. So:
- Record runs you actually ran. Not cycled, not driven, not simulated.
- Do not fake, replay or inject location data.
- Do not use more than one account to feed territory to another.
Uploaded runs are checked automatically for sustained speeds, jumps between fixes that no runner could cover, and stride lengths that do not match the distance. A run that fails is recorded and marked rejected, and claims no territory. You are told why.
These checks are deliberately cautious about hardware. A poor GPS signal is filtered rather than treated as cheating, and a missing or broken step counter never rejects a run on its own — the gates exist to catch deception, not to penalise a phone.
Behaviour towards other people
Choose a username that is not abusive, impersonating, or a slur. You can block anyone, and report a username you think breaks this rule.
Reporting somebody changes nothing about the game. No name changes, no rank moves, no ground is released, and nothing is hidden while a report is reviewed. That is deliberate: if reporting could cost a rival territory, it would become a weapon rather than a safety tool.
If a report is upheld, the sanction is that the username is removed and the person is asked to choose a new one. They keep every hexagon, every point and every rank — only the label changes.
What we do not promise
Runzo is provided as it is. It depends on your phone's GPS, its battery settings, and the operating system's willingness to keep a background service alive — none of which we control. Runs can be lost. Scores, decay rates and the rules of ownership are tuned as the game develops and can change.
Territory in Runzo is a score in a game. It is not property, it has no monetary value, and it cannot be bought, sold or transferred.
Running is your responsibility
Watch the road, not the phone. Runzo will happily draw a hexagon across a motorway; that is not an invitation to run down one. You are responsible for where you choose to run and for running somewhere it is safe and legal to be.
Ending it
You can stop using Runzo and delete your account whenever you want. We may suspend an account that repeatedly fakes runs or abuses other people.
